INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA announced on Friday the decisions reached by the Division II Membership Committee on applications for NCAA Division II candidacy. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference sponsored two institutions for candidacy in 2014-15, Georgetown College and Cumberland University.

The institutions were not recommended by the Membership Committee for advancement into NCAA candidacy for the upcoming year. The committee’s decisions will be reviewed by the NCAA Division II Management Council as part of its regular process during its July 21-22 meeting. The NCAA official release regarding the decision of the committee can be found here.

The G-MAC is working with the institutions to evaluate the information provided to them regarding the decision of the committee. The Conference remains committed and fully supports both institutions as they work through the next steps in the process towards NCAA candidacy, including any decision made to appeal the decisions of the committees.

The Conference is confident the institutions will be valuable members of NCAA Division II and strong additions to the league.
