Cedarville captures inaugural Track & Field title

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Cedarville University Yellow Jackets played host to the inaugural Great Midwest Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday and secured the team championship, posting 246 points.

The Jackets won seven of 20 total individual events at the conference meet, with each event champion earning First Team All-Conference honors. A full list of All-Conference first and second teams, along with all honorable mentions will be posted on Sunday.

Earning individual honors, Cedarville head coach Jeff Bolender was named Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year as he led his program to the G-MAC title.

Keelan Cole of Kentucky Wesleyan was named Track Athlete of the Year after winning both the 100m and 200m races and finishing second in the 400m.

James Anderson of Alderson Broaddus was named Field Athlete of the Year after winning the Javelin, finishing second in the hammer, third in both the discus and pole vault, and earning points in the shot put, long jump, high jump, hammer, and the 400m. Anderson totaled 37 of the 97 team points for the Battlers.

Denzel Peters of Central State University was named Freshman of the Year after winning the 400m hurdles and finishing second in the long jump and third in the 110m hurdles.
