CINCINNATI - The 2013-14 Women’s Golf Championship ended after just one round, as snow prevented the teams from taking the course on day two at the TPC-River’s Bend golf course in Cincinnati, Ohio. As the teams were unable to complete 36 holes, the final scores and standings revert to the last completed round, meaning the results after one round have determined the G-MAC Champions.
Defending champion Trevecca Nazarene University repeated as champion taking a six stroke lead on day one, despite having only four golfers available. Kaylon King earned medalist honors, shooting a low round of 82 on Monday. She edged teammate Alexa Rippy by one stroke and the duo of Eadaoin Cronin and Talia Trovato from Ursuline College.
Ursuline shot a team score of 351, falling just six shots short of TNU’s 345. Ohio Valley, ranked fourth in the conference coming into the tournament, finished in third place with a team score of 371 and was led by Lindsay Osborne, who finished fifth overall with her first round score of 87.
The top five finishers of the tournament, King, Rippy, Cronin, Trovato, and Osborne automatically were named to the G-MAC Women’s Golf All-Conference Team. The coaches will take the next week to nominate and vote on an additional five members to complete the ten-member All-Conference Team. They will also name a Coach of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Player of the Year. For King, Cronin, and Trovato - this is their second straight season on the All-Conference Team .
