INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has named Karly Rhoads of Kentucky Wesleyan College the Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week after she helped guide the Panthers to the G-MAC championship.

Karly Rhoads, who was recognized last week as the G-MAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, lived up to the honor and has been named the G-MAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week following the 2013-14 G-MAC Women’s Basketball Championships. Rhoads, who led her team to the conference championship as the tournament’s number two, led her team with 22.0 points per game and a 56.4% shooting percentage over the three wins.

Her 66 points scored led the tournament, while her 22 points a game was third. She also ranked as the tournament’s top passer, recording a tournament-high 18 assists and 6.0 assists per game. Her 56.4% shooting performance ranked fifth overall, while her 22 field goals made was by far the most made over the weekend.

In the quarterfinals against Ohio Valley, she scored a game-high 19 points and seven assists to go with three rebounds. In the semifinals against Cedarville, Rhoads scored 22 points, tying her twin sister Kourtney and teammate Jordanne Gambill for the game-high in scoring. Rhoads had a team-high six assists and hit the go-ahead three pointer in overtime in the team’s come-from-behind win. In the finals, against top seeded Trevecca Nazarene, Rhoads led all scorers with 25 points, and added a game-high (tying) five assists with four rebounds. She scored the team’s final nine points, securing its 80-76 win.
