INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has named Jorden Lykes of Davis & Elkins College the Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the first time this season.

Jorden Lykes has been named the G-MAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the first time this season, and is the first D&E women’s basketball player to earn the honor this season. Lykes helped the Senators post two conference wins and three wins overall last week, as the team extended its winnings streak to six games. They currently sit in third at 7-2 in conference behind Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene, which are both 9-1, and have accounted for both of D&E’s losses in conference.

Lykes scored a conference-high 61 points last week in three games, averaging 20.3 points per contest. She also led the league with 32 rebounds, second with 10.7 rebounds a game. Her 8.0 defensive rebounds a game was the best last week in the G-MAC.

In a match-up against Alderson Broaddus, Lykes led all scorers with 24 points in only 25 minutes, and had a game-high tying six rebounds. She followed up the solid performance in a non-conference win over #22 Edinboro, scoring a game-high 17 points and grabbing a game-high (tying) 11 rebounds. She wrapped up the week, once again leading the way in scoring with 20 points against Ursuline. She also had a team-high 15 rebounds and a game-high 12 defensive rebounds.

After shooting over 60% in three games last week, Lykes has improved her season stats to 13.1 points per game, ranking her seventh, and 7.6 rebounds per game, ranking her fourth. As for conference games are concerned, she is third in the league in scoring with 17.1 points per game (just 0.9 behind leader Iniquia Snell of Central State), and leads the G-MAC with 9.9 rebounds per game (1.0 ahead of second place Emma Ricketts of Ursuline).
