Kaysie Brittenham has been named the G-MAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after helping her team to two important G-MAC wins last week. Brittenham led the team in scoring in wins over Kentucky Wesleyan and against Trevecca Nazarene on the road.
In the weekend’s first game, Brittenham tied teammate Kayla Jenerette for the team lead in scoring with 18 points, going 8-12 from the field. She added three assists and a rebound. In the seasons most important game against TNU, Brittenham once again paced the team in scoring, putting up 20 points on 7-11 shooting, including going 5-7 from long range. She added two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
The two wins extend Cedarville’s winning streak to seven-straight. They also handed TNU its second conference loss, bringing the two teams into a tie in the loss column. Cedarville holds the advantage, winning both meetings with TNU on the season. If Cedarville can win out, they would secure the regular-season championship and the right to host the G-MAC Championship Tournament.
Coming into last week, Brittenham was averaging only 6.7 points per game, but posted 19 points per game in her two games. She has now led the team in scoring in three games this season, all G-MAC contests.
