GREENWOOD, Ind. - For the second straight year, Kentucky Wesleyan senior Chelsea Brothers was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Volleyball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA).
Brothers was announced as a second-team selection this year after being named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team in November.
As a junior, Brothers was also a CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American Second Team pick.
Brothers, a senior middle grades education major with an emphasis in mathematics and special education, has made the Dean's List each semester and was an Academic All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference selection in 2013 and an Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honoree in 2011 and 2012. She currently holds a 4.0 grade point average.
The Indianapolis native led the Panthers in total blocks (74), solo blocks (11) and block assists (63) and finished second in kills (203) in 28 matches played with 24 starts and 95 sets played. Her other statistics include 31 digs, 13 assists and six service aces.
The Panthers ended the season with a 16-13 record while advancing to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship semifinals.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a 3.3 or better cumulative GPA and be in their second year or later at the school.
?The Capital One Division II Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2014-15 Division II Academic All-America teams program.
