INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year, Vanessa Consiglio of Ursuline College, has been selected as the recipient of the Academic All-America® of the Year award for Division II women's soccer as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Consiglio is double majoring in Business Administration and Marketing and carries a 3.95 grade point average.
This fall, she helped lead the Arrows to their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season title and conference tournament championship after losing in the title game the previous two years.
In addition to being named the G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year, Consiglio was a First Team All-Conference selection for the second-straight season after earning second team accolades as a freshman.
Consiglio finished the year with 12 goals and 19 assists, good for a total of 43 points, while helping UC capture a school record 15 wins (15-4). The 19 assists top Division II and the 43 points rank her fifth nationally.
In 2013, Consiglio earned first team All-Ohio Division II honors along with First Team All-Conference accolades.
Additionally, she was a second team NSCAA All-Midwest Region selection after finishing third in the G-MAC in goals (12), tied for third in assists (nine) and second in points (33). She was accorded second team all-conference honors as a freshman in 2012 after contributing seven goals and five assists.
