GREENWOOD, Ind. - Central State senior guard Masceo Harmon was the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week selection following the first weekend of the 2014-15 season.
Harmon was dynamic in the first two games of the year against Wayne State and Tiffin as part of the GLVC/G-MAC Challenge that resulted in a pair of split one-point decisions for the Marauders.
Harmon emerged as the G-MAC’s early leader in scoring (19.0 ppg) while shooting over 54 percent from the field and converting all nine of his free-throw attempts.
His peripheral stats were notable as well as the Memphis, Tenn., product pulled in 6.5 rebounds per contest from the point guard position and averaged 2.5 steals to anchor CSU’s defensive effort.
Harmon netted a game-high 18 points and pulled in seven boards -- three on the offensive glass -- as Central State mounted a late comeback in its season opener against Wayne State. He also nailed a pair of baskets from long range and came up with a pair of steals.
In a narrow one-point defeat against Tiffin, Harmon again led all players on the floor in points with 20 as he finished 6-of-9 on his field goal attempts and four of his six rebounds came on the offensive end.
He also sank all seven free-throw tries, dished out a pair of assists and came up with three more steals.
