Liz Denton has been named the G-MAC Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after leading her team to a pair of wins in conference on the final season of the G-MAC regular-season. After a difficult overtime 2-1 loss at Christian Brothers to start the week, Denton bounced back to secure a 2-1 win over Cedarville and then a 1-0 shutout win over Ursuline, who is the conference’s top overall seed.

Against Christian Brothers, Denton made five saves, but then rebounded for a strong performance against Cedarville with six saves in a 2-1 win. With the win, TNU put themselves in a position that with a win over Ursuline, it could earn the #2 seed and a bye into the semifinals.

Denton stepped up alongside her defensive front to shut out Ursuline, the conference’s and one of the nation’s highest scoring offenses.

On the season, she is sixth in saves (66) and fifth in saves per game (4.71) with three shutouts, two of which came in conference play, as she was tied for fourth in the G-MAC.
