GREENWOOD, Ind. - Cedarvile University junior middle blocker Tori Thompson was efficient across the board while garnering G-MAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week status as the Lady Jackets emerged on top of the league standings.
Thompson and the Lady Jackets toppled Ohio Valley and Salem International while contesting Midwest Region opponent Southern Indiana this past week. Cedarville, back-to-back G-MAC Championship winners, is now 6-1 in the league and 14-11 overall.
Thompson averaged 3.10 kills per set in 10 frames and hit .354 and as one of the G-MAC’s premier blocking forces, she added six more to her season total.
Against Southern Indiana and Salem International, Thompson tallied 11 kills in each match. She tallied her 11 kills on just 13 swings against the Tigers. Cedarville then halted an eight-match win streak by Ohio Valley with a sweep as Thompson totaled nine more kills.
On the season, Thompson is currently averaging 0.93 blocks per set -- tops in the league. She also leads the G-MAC in total blocks with 85.
