GREENWOOD, Ind. - Sophomore Alyx Henry helped pilot a surging Ohio Valley University program with a 3-0 record as she became a repeat selection for G-MAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week accolades this fall.
The Fighting Scots carved out a signature conference win against previously G-MAC unbeaten Ursuline with a five-set finish on Friday night.
OVU also toppled Salem International in straight sets on the road before polishing off West Virginia Tech with a sweep on Saturday.
Henry hit an impressive .434 in 11 sets while averaging five kills per frame with a total of 55 recorded against the three opponents. She also averaged 2.18 digs per set as the Fighting Scots (14-8, 2-1 G-MAC) moved up to fourth in the conference while winning seven straight matches.
This season, Henry ranks first in the G-MAC in attacking percentage (.301) and second in both total kills (296) and kills per set (3.75)
Henry blasted 29 kills against the Arrows, equaling teammate Imani Ward, as a league-best kill total in a single match this season. It was also the third-most kills in a match since the conference’s inception in 2012 behind only Kelsey Volkmer (37, 31 kills vs. Trevecca/Notre Dame).
