CEDARVILLE, Ohio (courtesy of @CUJackets) - The Lady Jackets needed a superb effort to end a five-game losing streak and they got one with a 77-56 win over Trevecca Nazarene in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference encounter played in the Callan Athletic Center.
Cedarville, 4-7 overall and 1-1 G-MAC, was in charge from the outset. The hosts shot 53 percent from the field, knocked down 10-of-17 three-pointers, shot 83 percent at the line, and crushed TNU on the boards, 42-21.
The Lady Jackets scored 20 unanswered points to blow out to a 33-10 lead.
Kaysie Brittenham's third trey of the period made it 46-29 at the intermission.
Once the Trojans closed the gap to 14 early in the second half, CU pushed the difference back out to 23 before closing the deal.
Kayla Jenerette paced four players in twin figures with 15 points.
Deborah Gordon scored 13 points while Brittenham and
Kayla Linkous added 12 each.
Trevecca Nazarene, who hammered the Jackets by 49 and 38 points last winter, drops to 6-7 and 3-1 G-MAC.
Cedarville continues league play at Ursuline on Thursday. Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m. at John Carroll University.
