VIENNA, W.Va. (Courtesy of @CUJackets) - Cedarville's Marcus Reineke scored a career-high 28 points and J.C. Faubion scored eight points in overtime to lead the Yellow Jackets to a come-from-behind 89-86 victory in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game.
The Yellow Jackets trailed by as much as four points in the OT before Faubion got hot. The freshman guard hit three free throws with 1:32 left to bring Cedarville within one and then tied the contest with a trey at the 1:02 mark.
After the Fighting Scots regained the lead, Reineke's three-pointer with 27 seconds left gave the Jackets the lead for good, 87-86. OVU missed two late shots and Faubion tacked on the final two points from the charity stripe.
Reineke drilled six three-pointers to fuel his big night to go along with four assists. Jason Cuffee finished with 19 points while Faubion and Brian Grant had 15 each.
Cedarville, 5-12 overall and 3-2 G-MAC, won for the fourth time in the past five outings. It was the Jackets' first road win of the season in seven tries.
Ohio Valley, 3-13 and 2-4 G-MAC, controlled the first 20 minutes for a 48-39 lead. The hosts increased the difference to as much as 11 points early in the second half.
The Yellow Jackets exploded on a 24-6 run for a 71-64 lead with 6:45 left. OVU made 1-of-2 free throws with 10 seconds left in regulation to forge a tie.
The Yellow Jackets are 2-2 in four overtime games this season. Cedarville rallied despite shooting just 36 percent from the field in the second half and getting outrebounded 56-29 for the game. As for Reineke, his previous career-high of 25 points occurred twice - a road win his freshman season at Malone and a home victory last year vs. Illinois Springfield.
