NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Alderson Broaddus men's basketball cruised to its seventh straight win and third conference victory as it topped Trevecca Nazarene University, 72-52, Thursday at Trojan Fieldhouse.
Senior Adam Kline scored 23 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and registered his team-leading eighth double-double of the season in the win. Kline was a near-perfect 11-for-12 from the field and totaled three blocks.
The Battlers (9-4, 3-0 G-MAC) shot 49 percent against TNU, and 50 percent in the opening half, during which they compiled a 17-point advantage. Kline paced ABU in the opening 20 minutes with 15 points and sophomore Thylas Perkins scored 11 points.
ABU's defense held the Trojans (5-10, 2-3 G-MAC) to 52 points, the second-lowest scoring total of the season for an opponent, and allowed TNU to connect on 40 percent of its shot attempts. TNU opened the game shooting 44 percent from the field, but the blue and gold held the team to 36 percent shooting after the break.
Sophomore Richard Lemon also recorded a double-double in Thursday's victory, finishing with 11 points and 10 boards. ABU closed the game with a plus-22 advantage in the rebound battle and yanked down 45 caroms.
Two Trojans scored in the double-figures led by David Woodward (13) and followed by Taylor Clay (11).
