PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – (courtesy of @UrsulineArrows) The Ursuline College basketball team finished in the top-15 nationally in grade-point average (GPA), earning the Arrows a spot on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.
Head coach Shannon Sword's squad wrapped up the 2012-13 academic year with a 3.492 cumulative GPA, earning a tie for the 15th best GPA in all of NCAA Division II women's basketball. Lone graduated senior Laura Campbell, who earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference first team honors, earned a 4.0 in both semesters and is set to begin a marketing internship at the University of Toledo this fall.
The rest of the team followed Campbell's lead as 10 of the 12 student-athletes notched at least a 3.0 GPA in both semesters.
"Academics are a top priority in our program and I am proud of the effort our student-athletes put forth in the classroom last year," Sword said. "As our academic coach on staff, Jessica Williams did a tremendous job monitoring and mentoring our players along the way. We will always have high expectations for our ladies in the classroom."
