NASHVILLE - In the Championship game, Trevecca Nazarene faced off against Cedarville University for the second time in the tournament. Trevecca completed the undefeated G-MAC season, going 12-0 in the regular season and 3-0 in the tournament to win the G-MAC Championship with a 8-0 win over Cedarville in six innings.

Trevecca beat Ursuline in the first round and advanced into the finals from the winners bracket after beating Cedarville on Thursday. The Lady Jackets reached the finals after beating Urbana in game one, falling to TNU in game two, and then defeating Urbana for a second time to advance out of the losers bracket to face the Lady Trojans.

TNU, who was the visiting team on the scoreboard at their home field, took the early 1-0 lead in the top of the second on an RBI-double by Heather Shuler, scoring Lindsey Grimes all the way from first.

The pitching staff for Trevecca continued its dominance over G-MAC hitters as Natalie Papini pitched five shutout innings, giving up just two hits. Kelsey Kemp came in to pitch the sixth and closed out the win. The TNU pitching staff allowed just five hits in the tournament over 20 innings.

In the Trojans first two games, Kemp pitched a complete game no-hitter against Ursuline, while Lindsey Stephens tossed a three-hit complete game shutout against Cedarville. Stephens didn’t allow the first Yellow Jackets hit until the fifth inning of their game, while Papini surrendered her first hit to Cedarville in the bottom of the fourth with one out.

TNU secured the win by adding three runs on two hits in the fifth and four more on only two hits again in the sixth. Cedarville committed three errors over the two innings, leading to extra at-bats for an explosive TNU offense. With an 8-0 lead after the end of six, the game ended with the run rule of leading by eight or more after five innings.
