NASHVILLE - The 2012-13 inaugural Women’s Golf Championship finished up on Tuesday afternoon with the host, Trevecca Nazarene University taking the title with 36-hole, two-day total of 663. Urbana University secured second place with a score of 701, while Ursuline College took third with a 710.
Individually, Mikalya Dodson of Trevecca Nazarene took medalist honors after shooting a tournament-low round of 77 in the first round, and followed up with a matching second round of 77 for a total of 154. Her teammate Kaylon King, who trailed by four strokes after day one (81), posted a 82 on day two for a final score of 163 and a runner-up finish.
Talia Trovato of Ursuline, who was tied for second after the first round (81), finished with team best two-day total of 170 and a third place finish, while Urbana was led by Courtney Tierney, who finished fourth with a two round score of 172 (89-83).
The top five finishers of the tournament, Dodson, King, Trovato, Tierney, and both Ashley Randolph (Trevecca) and Chasey Rotondo (Ursuilne), who tied for fifth with their 173, earned a spot on the G-MAC Women’s Golf All-Conference Team. The coaches rounded out the All-Conference Team with the selection of Lindsey Phillips, Kasey Caudill, Amanda Rockhold from Urbana, Eadaoin Cronin of Ursuline, and Marlee Ingham from Trevecca.
The 2012-13 G-MAC Championship featured just three programs, but with the recent expansion, the 2013-14 G-MAC Championship field will expand and feature at least five member institutions with additional expansion expected in the next few years.
