Kayla Jenerette, the conferences first Athlete of the Week, has been named the G-MAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the third and final time this season, as the weekly honor concludes with the Championship Tournament already underway following the first round game this past Saturday between Ursuline and Central State.

The tournament continues this Friday with the semifinal round, hosted by top seed Trevecca Nazarene University.

For Jenerette, her week featured a stand-out performance in the NCCAA Midwest Region Championship game, as the Yellow Jackets defeated Grace College (Ind), 80-46. The win will advance the team to the NCCAA National Tournament for the second straight year (March 13-16), where they finished as the national runner-up a season ago.

Jenerette led all scorers with 19 points, going 8-10 from the floor and 3-5 from long range, finishing just short of what could have been her seventh 20-point performance of the season. She added four assists, two steals and a rebound in the victory. Her 19 points secured her as the second best scorer in the conference regular-season with 16.0 points per game, behind scoring champ Ciara Geiger of Urbana (18.4 ppg). She was second in the conference with six 20-point or more games.

She also ranks in the top ten in shooting at 41.3%, good for ninth in the G-MAC. Her long range shooting was second best in the conference and almost equal to her overall shooting percentage at 40.3%. She finishes the regular-season ranked fourth in assists (3.2 per game); second in free throw percentage (84.3%); and third in three pointers made (2.3 per game and 58 overall).
