Nwogbo and Jenerette named NCCAA All-Americans

INDIANAPOLIS - Following their third place finish at the NCCAA Championships, the postseason awards for Cedarville piled up as Zimmy Nwogbo (Men) and Kayla Jenerette (Women) were both named First Team All Americans by the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association).
 
Zimmy Nwogbo, who was the NCCAA Midwest Player of the Year, had a league leading five G-MAC Athlete of the Week awards, was named the G-MAC Player of the Year, and was an All-Midwest Second Team pick as well. 
 
Nwogbo led the Yellow Jackets in both scoring (17.1) and rebounding (8.1) as he led his team to the first-ever G-MAC Men’s Basketball Championship.  Nwogbo also ended the year ranked in the top-10 nationally with a 63% field goal percentage.  He guided his team to a 22-9 overall record, concluding with their third place finish at the NCCAA national tournament.
 
On the women’s side, Kayla Jenerette matched Nwogbo with multiple honors and highly ranked statistics. She led her team, and was second in the G-MAC in scoring at 16.0 points per game. She led the conference in three-point field goal percentage (43%) and was fifth in assists (3.1 per game). 
 
This was the second-straight year the South Carolina native has been named as an NCCAA All-American and she is the sixth Lady Jacket to receive the honor.  She has also received recognition as a Scholar Athlete. 
 
Jenerette, a three-time G-MAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week, finished the season with seven 20+ point performances, including her season-high of 29 points against Oakland City. She led her team to a 20-10 overall record and a fifth place finish at the NCCAA national tournament.
