INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has announced that Courtnie Spain and Kelsey Wilson of Cedarville University have been named G-MAC Softball Pitching and Offensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Kelsey Wilson helped guide the Cedarville offensive attack as the Lady Jackets pick up a pair of wins over Minnesota-Crookston. Wilson went a combined 5-5 in the doubleheader, which CU won 18-1 and 9-1 in five innings each.
 
Wilson picked up four runs batted in, scored five times and highlighted the wins with her third double of the season and second home run. She leads the team with a .455 batting average, while leading the conference in hits (25), runs scored (20), and total bases (34). She is ranked second with 17 stolen bases, while being caught stealing just once.
 
In game one of the double header, Wilson put the game out of reach in her first at-bat, driving a three-run home run to left center with no outs. She ended the game, going 3-3, scoring all three times, driving in a team-high four runs and even stole two bases.
 
In game two, Wilson went 2-2 with a double in the first inning, and then later was hit by a pitch and scored the go ahead run in the third inning, and finally singled and scored in the fourth inning.

PITCHING AOTW

Courtnie Spain helped guide the Cedarville softball program to a pair of wins over Minnesota-Crookston, as the offense unloaded, but the pitching staff also performed allowing just two runs in two games. Spain hurled a five-inning complete game, allowing just one run and two hits in game two of the doubleheader sweep.
 
In game two, a much tighter 9-1 win, Spain earned her fourth win of the year. She allowed just one earned run in the top of the second, after both teams were held scoreless. The game remained tight through four innings, as Cedarville led 2-1, before scoring four in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the bottom of the fifth to end the game under the run rule.
 
She finished the contest with seven strikeouts. She leads the team with a 2.68 earned run average and is tied for the team lead with four wins, which is tied for second in conference behind Urbana’s Haley Kolmerten.
 
She now has a G-MAC-high and team-high five complete games and has recorded over half of her team’s 91 strikeouts - putting away a conference-best 54 hitters on strikes in only 47 innings. Opponents are hitting only .192 off the righty.
