Christina Curtner has been named the G-MAC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the first time this year, but is the third Trojan to win the honor in the last five weeks.
Curtner led her team to an impressive and important win over conference opponent Cedarville University, moving the Trojans to 5-1 on the season and rebounding from its first conference loss to Urbana, who is second at 4-1. The two teams end the season against each other, which could determine the top seed and Championship Tournament host.
In the 78-40 win, Curtner scored a game-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-4 from long range. She chipped in four rebounds and a game-high four assists and she set-up and controlled the Trojans offensive attack.
Curtner is leading the team in scoring, ranking seventh in the conference with 10.4 points per game. She is second in three-point shooting (40.5%), third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3), fifth in assists (3.1 per game), and eighth in steals (1.7 per game).
