INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has named David Woodard of Trevecca Nazarene University the Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week after scoring an average of 21 points per game last week.

David Woodard has been named the G-MAC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week after leading his team with 21 points per game and six rebounds as the Trojans went 1-1 last week, including a win over preseason #19 Alabama-Huntsville.
 
Woodard scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed a game-high-tying six rebounds, five other players grabbed six boards, in a tight 65-59 win over Alabama-Huntsville. The win came just a week after UAH defeated TNU 83-69 in Huntsville. He played 33 minutes, shooting 4-7 from the field and did a majority of his damage from the charity stripe, going 11-13 from the free throw line. Woodard also added a block, a steal, and team-high three assists in the win. He made five free throws and grabbed two rebounds in the final minute of the game to extend the lead from 57-56 to the final score of 65-59.
 
Woodard also scored a game-high 23 points and added six rebounds, and an assist in the teams slim four-point loss to McKendree. Once again, he did his scoring on free throws, going 11-15 from the line. He shot 6-10 from the field in only 26 minutes. With his performance, he moved up to sixth in scoring in the conference with 16.3 points per game.
