11.5.13

INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference is excited to release the first Basketball Virtual Media Day as the conference welcomes in additional institutions to the eight-team field that makes up the G-MAC in its first active year in the NCAA DII ranks.

The Preseason Coaches Poll and Virtual Media Day features was released over a two-day period, starting with teams ranked #5 - #8 in the coaches poll yesterday. Today, we release the rest of the preseason poll, as well as their Virtual Media Day features.

Kentucky Wesleyan, competiting in its first season with the G-MAC, is the unanimous favorite on the men's side. They have also been ranked as high as #3 nationally in some preseason polls. Cedarville beat out Alderson Broaddus for the second position in the preseason poll by just one point. Each received three second place votes, but Cedarville added four third place votes to two for AB.

On the women's side, the Panthers have also claimed the top spot, but by the slimest of margins. KWC had five first place votes, but claimed the top spot by just one point over the defending G-MAC Regular Season Champion Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene, who received two first place votes and five second place votes. Cedarville, who returns its entire roster, received a first place vote and was ranked third.

A full G-MAC Men's and Women's Basketball Season Preview will be posted on Friday, just prior to the start of the 2013-14 season that tips off for most of the conference on Saturday.
