INDIANAPOLIS - On Monday, the 2013 Daktronics NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Soccer All-Midwest Regional teams were announced, with nine student-athletes from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference being named. The G-MAC featured two men’s first team, two men’s second team, two women’s first team, and three women’s second team selections.
On the women’s side, G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year Jacoby Ziegler and teammate Grace Miorelli from Cedarville University were named to the All-Midwest First Team. Ziegler ranked second in the NCAA in total points and third in total goals scored, while Miorelli ranked fourth in goals in the G-MAC.
The Lady Jackets, which won the regular-season title, also had G-MAC Defensive Player of the Year Carly Gregory earn post season honors as an All-Midwest Second Team selection. Ursuline sophomore Vanessa Consiglio and Kentucky Wesleyan junior Paige Kramer joined Gregory on the Women’s All-Midwest Second Team. Consiglio ranked second in the G-MAC in scoring with 1.57 points per game, while Kramer led the conference in assists and ranked seventh in goals scored.
For the men, the NCAA’s DII leading scorer James Pucci of Davis & Elkins, and Alderson Broaddus senior Jose Noriega were named to the All-Midwest First Team. Pucci led the nation in goals scored (27), total points (65), and points per game (3.61) on his way to being named G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year. Not to be overshadowed, Noriega ranked 11th in the nation goals per game (0.93) and 15th in points per game (2.00). The pair ranked one and two in the conference in a majority of offensive categories.
Cedarville’s Connor Gilmour and Kentucky Wesleyan’s Christakis Agisilaou earned All-Midwest Region Second Team honors. Gilmour and Agisilaou ranked in a tied for third in the G-MAC with 12 goals each. Agisilaou ranked 13th in the nation in points per game (2.06), 17th in total points (35), and 20th in goals per game (0.82). The pair of G-MAC second team selections ranked third and fourth in most offensive conference categories.
