Nikki Jenkins has been named the G-MAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week after leading her team to the G-MAC regular season title with two wins this weekend, including a road win over Cedarville with the top seed up for grabs to the winner.
On Friday, she lead the Panthers to a 3-0 win over Central State. Jenkins had 1.000 hitting percentage, but only recorded a pair of kills and added two digs on the defensive side. Her big contribution came in the team’s most difficult match of the week.
On Saturday, Jenkins displayed her range of skills by helping the Panthers beat Cedarville in a five-set match. She had a .300 hitting percentage in the match with 17 kills. She might have been even more integral in the service game with five service aces, and in the fifth set helped the team tie the game at 9-9 on her serve after they trailed 9-6. She also helped out defensively with her 18 digs.
