Mason, Ohio - The 2013 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Crossover event kicked off on Friday morning, as Cedarville and Ohio Valley earned three set wins over Ursuline and Central State respectively.
The crossover event runs two matches at a time, as Ohio Valley improved to 7-11 overall and 1-0 in conference play with a 25-13, 25-5, 25-5 win over Central State, who falls to 0-4 on the season, and Cedarville took down Ursuline 25-13, 25-17, and 25-16 on court two.

For Cedarville, who improved to 5-11 and 1-0 in the G-MAC, Amanda Bell recorded 12 kills, while Hannah Wagner and Abby Shelton each had eight. Maddie Anderson guided the attack with 25 assists to go with eight digs, while Angela Becker had a match-high 18 digs. For the Arrows, the balanced attack of Emily Adkinson, Makayla Windau, Alex Leister, and Maureen Kelly each recorded a team-high tying six kills. Molly HIlfinger had 20 assists, while Leister had a team-high 12 digs.
On court one, the Fighting Scots were led by Alyx Henry’s eight kills, while Amanda Weatherwax had seven, Imani Ward had six, and Felicia Zartman had five. Jessica Simpson led the way with 25 assists and Cayla Palmer chipped in eight digs on the defensive end. For Central State, Ashlee Spencer had seven of the teams 13 kills.

Trevecca Nazarene - Alderson Broaddus Box Score
The afternoon’ second set of matches, Kentucky Wesleyan battled to a 3-0 win over Davis and Elkins by a score of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-22. The Panthers received double-digits kills from Summer Aldord, who had a match-high 12 kills, and Bridget Johnson with 10 kills. Jordan Rickert had a match-high 32 assists, while Hannah Hudnall led the way with 18 digs.
For Davis and Elkins, three players, Alexis Mourier, Erin Legge, and Elizabeth Estes, all tied for the team lead with five kills. Alicia Stokes had 11 assists, while Haylee Murray had eight. Stokes and Michaela Touchet each had eight digs, while Kelsey Richards had a team-high nine.
On court one, Alderson Broaddus came out on top 3-1 over Trevecca Nazarene in another tight battle. AB won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-20, before TNU pushed the match to a fourth set with a 25-23 win in set three. The Battlers closed out the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth set.
AB had three players in double-digits led by Ashley MacDonald’s 15 kills, while Victoria Morgan had 14 kills and Megan Christmann had 13. Kayla Peterson hit the 50 assists mark, and Jillian Brown added 15 digs and MacDonald 14.

Cedarville - Ohio Valley Box Score
In the third set of games, Cedarville and Ursuline concluded their first day of action with wins over Ohio Valley and Central State respectively. Ursuline, who lost to Cedarville in the first match, rebounded to take down Central State in three sets, while Cedarville improved to 2-0 in conference play, while Ohio Valley finishes the day with a split of its first two conference matches.
Cedarville was led by nine kills each from Tori Thompson and Abby Shelton, while Maddie Anderson added 23 more assists and Kristin Cardwell pitched in 13. Defensively, Angela Becker recorded 14 digs. Ohio Valley was led by Imani Ward’s 7 kills and Jessica Simpson’s 17 assists.
Ursuline took down Central State behind nine kills from Maureen Kelly, 28 assists from Molly Hilfinger, and seven digs each from Alex Leister and Kelly Stenger. The Arrows recorded 35 kills to Central State’s 11 and 13 service aces to one. Lesiter led the way with four service aces.

In the final set of matches on day one of the Volleyball Crossover, Trevecca earned a split on the day with a win over Davis &Elkins in three sets. The first two sets were as close as could be with the Trojans winning 25-23 in each set, but TNU pulled away with the win in the third - winning 25-8.
TNU was led by Kristen Johnson’s team-high 10 kills, and 15 assists, which was second on the team behind Caroline Gay’s 16 assists. Shelby Sorce led the defense with 22 digs. For D&E, Elizabeth Estes had a team-high seven kills, while Haylee Murray had 12 assists, and Kelsey Richards added nine digs. As a team, TNU out-hit the Senators .212 to .027 as D&E made 25 hitting errors to just 14 from Trevecca.
In what proved to be the most exciting match of the day, Alderson Broaddus and Kentucky Wesleyan battled to remain unbeaten on the weekend and in the conference. In the first game, KWC pulled out a dramatic 30-28 win in set one. AB evened the match at one game all and took a 2-1 lead after winning set number two and three by a 25-17 score. The Battlers than made a dramatic come-from-behind rally in the fourth game to close out the match 27-25 after trailing 21-17 and 23-19.
Alderson Broaddus received 18 kills from Megan Christmann, 16 from Ashley MacDonald, and 14 from Caitlin Cain. Kayla Peterson had 52 assists, while Jilian Brown had an amazing 31 digs. Kentucky Wesleyan had a team-high 11 kills from Bridget Johnson and 10 kills from Summer Alford. Jordan Rickert recorded 31 assists and the trio of Hannah Hudnall (20 digs), Alford (17 digs), and Johnson (10 digs) all reached double-digit mark defensively.
