Olivia Augustine has been named the Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after the junior forward helped guide the Battlers go 2-0 this week, scoring three goals scored in two wins over Salem International and Ohio Valley.
The wins were critical for the Battlers, as their conference record finished at 5-4-1 in the team’s first season in the G-MAC. Their six points (two wins) this past week, improved them to 16 points in conference and jumped them over Ursuline and TNU to claim the #3 seed in the standings and the right to host Kentucky Wesleyan in the quarterfinal round of the 2013 G-MAC Women’s Soccer Championship.
Against Salem, Augustine provided the team an insurance goal in the second half of what turned out to be a 3-0 win for the Battlers. In the team’s next game, a 4-0 shutout win over Ohio Valley, Augustine scored the game’s first two goals, coming in the 19th minute and 29th minute.
Augustine now has six goals and two assists, taking the team lead in goals and tying teammate Brooke Hunsaker with a team-high 14 points.
