Ethan Dewhurst has been named G-MAC Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week after leading his team to a pair of conference shutout wins over Trevecca Nazarene and Kentucky Wesleyan, and keeping pace with Davis & Elkins for the race for the top spot in the four-team postseason conference tournament.

Over the weekend, Dewhurst posted his school record ninth shutout in a 2-0 win over the Trojans. He then started and played just under 60 minutes against Kentucky Wesleyan before he was replaced as the Yellow Jackets held a 3-0 lead. On the season, Cedarville has 11 team shutouts, with Dewhurst posted nine complete game shutouts.

Against TNU, Dewhurst faced eight shots and made three saves, while he didn’t make a save against KWC, but did face three shots. He lowered his season goals against average to 0.52 per game, while raising his save percentage to .784 and his overall record to 11-2-3.

Last season, Dewhurst totaled seven shutouts and an 0.88 goals against average in 20 starts as a freshman. His 0.52 goals against average this year will establish a new school record as well once the season is complete, topping the previous low of 0.87.
