INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has named Laia Dordas of Davis & Elkins College the Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week after helping her team to a pair of wins.

Laia Dordas has been named the Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after the junior forward helped guide the Senators to a 2-0 week, scoring all three goals scored by the team this week. Dordas scored both goals of a 2-1 win on the road at Ashland, and then scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Alderson Broaddus at home.
 
Dordas gave her team a 2-0 lead at Ashland, scoring her first goal of the game in the ninth minute and then providing the team with an insurance goal only seven minutes later, her fifth and sixth goal of the season. She scored her seventh goal in the team’s next contest, a G-MAC game against AB. The games only goal came in the 12th minute of the contest, it was her second game-winner of the week and of the season.
 
The pair of wins moved D&E to 6-7-1 on the season overall, but to an impressive 5-1-1 in the conference and one step closer to clinching the number two seed in the conference tournament. The teams only loss came at the hands of Cedarville, who remains undefeated in conference play and in position to clinch the top seed.
