Jeremiah Wright has been named G-MAC Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week after leading his team to a big conference win over Kentucky Wesleyan, securing a spot in the four-team postseason conference tournament. In the game against the Panthers, the Trojans trailed 2-0 well into the second half. TNU scored two goals six minutes apart in the 61st minute, which was assisted by Wright, and then in the 67th minute. Wright then netted the game-winner in the 79th minute to complete the come-from-behind win.

In the team’s other game last week, a 4-1 loss to Lincoln Memorial, Wright scored the teams only goal, putting the team in reach of a comeback at 2-1 with ten minutes remaining. However LMU scored two more goals as time ran out.

Wrights two goals and an assist on the week raised his season totals to a team-high nine goals and seven assists for 25 points. His goals and points rank fourth in the conference, while his seven assists ranks second.

The win over Kentucky Wesleyan in conference improved the team to 5-2 in conference with only one game remaining, securing one of the four available spots in the G-MAC Men’s Soccer Championships. Currently seeded third, TNU has the chance to move all the way to the top and host the tournament, but would need a lot of help from D&E and Cedarville in order to do so, a win in their conference season finale against Cedarville would go a long way.
