Jayla McCrary has been named G-MAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week, as she helped guide Alderson Broaddus to a 2-1 week overall, and a 2-0 record in conference. The Battlers had wins over Ursuline and Ohio Valley on the road, both in three games. AB improved to 5-1 in the conference and are not in a three-way tie for first place with Cedarville and Kentucky Wesleyan - as AB beat KWC, KWC beat Cedarville, and Cedarville beat AB.
In her three matches, McCrary recorded 35 kills and hit a conference best .554 (35 kills and 4 errors on 56 attempts). Her 3.18 kills per game ranked her fourth in the conference last week. However, in conference only matches, her 3.00 kills per game ranked tied for third, while her hitting percentage in those two matches was an amazing .654.
McCrary now ranks second in the conference with a .311 overall hitting percentage, and a .413 hitting percentage in conference action. She also recorded a pair of solo-blocks and four block assists in conference action this week. In the team’s non-conference game against Tiffin, she recorded a team-high 17 kills in the five-setter.
