Austin Foote has been named the G-MAC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second time this year, following his teammate Zimmy Nwogbo, who was named G-MAC AOTW for the second time last week.
Foote, who scored just six points and two steals in the Yellow Jackets non-conference victory over Salem International, carried the team to its second conference win and a slight advantage in the conference standings with a 74-65 win over Central State.
Foote scored a game-high 23 points to go with two assists, two steals and three rebounds - all offensive. He was 7-13 from the field and an impressive 8-8 from the free throw line. In the game, the Yellow Jackets led by as many as 19, before Central State closed to within six late in the second half.
With just under two minutes, Foote put the game away capping a 10-3 run with a layup, and then the team put the game away at the free throw line, including all eight of Foote’s free throws coming in the final 45 seconds.
Foote ranks eighth in the conference in scoring with 12.1 points per game and second overall with 30 made three-pointers.
