URSULINE AND URBANA TEE IT UP AT THE URSULINE FALL INVITATIONAL

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio (courtesy of @UrsulineArrows) The Arrow golf team shot a 365 to take fifth place at the Ursuline College Fall Invitational on a wet course at Acacia Country Club on Friday. Urbana University opened its fall season finishing just four strokes behind their hosts in 6th place.

Walsh University won the event with a 324, six strokes ahead of Bowling Green State University (330). Notre Dame College (357) and Point Park University (362) also finished ahead of Ursuline.

Urbana was sixth with a 369, one spot ahead of Grove City College (383). Hiram College came in last with a 417 to complete the eight-team field.

Chasey Rotondo paced the Arrows with an 85, leading Coach Irwin’s team made up of seven freshmen with a 43 on the front nine and a 42 on the back. Ashley Rideout tied for 16th with a 90 and was consistent with a pair of 45’s.

The Blue Knights were led by sophomore Lindsey Phillips and freshman Courtney Tierney, who both shot 89 and tied for 14th overall in a field of over 50 golfers.

Walsh’s Morgan Jackson turned in a 76 to earn the lowest score. Bowling Green’s Patricia Holt (77) and Jackson’s Walsh teammate Jenny Tsangeous (80) also medaled.


CEDARVILLE FALLS 2-1 WITH JUST SECONDS REMAINING IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

INDIANAPOLIS - (courtesy of @CUYellowJackets) Jacoby Ziegler set up the tying goal and later scored the game winner as the Lady Jackets rallied for a 3-2 result at Marian (Ind.) to pocket their first victory of the season.

Ziegler, a freshman forward, chipped a shot over the keeper from inside the box in the 78th minute to provide the difference. Sarah Storkel sent a long ball to Chloe West, who in turn touched it to her classmate for the deciding tally.

Cedarville struck first with Kristie Wolff scored from Arianna Pepper in the 22nd minute.The Knight rebounded to take a 2-1 lead in the halftime break. They found the net twice in the last eight minutes of the period.

Cedarville controlled the pace in the second half. The visitors finally equalized in the 65th when Deanne Bradshaw scored from Ziegler.

TREVECCA SPLITS TWO AT HOMESTEAD-HOLIDAY INN INVITATIONAL

BOURBONNAIS, Ill.
- (courtesy of @TNUsports) 24th ranked (NAIA) Indiana University East dealt Trevecca Nazarene University its first loss of the season Friday afternoon at the Homestead-Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by Olivet Nazarene.

Trevecca rebound in its afternoon match against Robert Morris University (3-8). The Trojans won in three sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-15. It was the first win for TNU at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational in the last two years.

The Red Wolves held the Trojans to their lowest hitting percentage of the season (.010) as they won in three sets (25-18, 25-14, 25-14).

Persephonie Devereaux led TNU with seven kills while Kristen Johnson added seven kills and a team-high 11 assists. Caroline Gay chipped in with 10 assists.

IUE's Caitlin Burroughs had a match-high 10 kills. Lindsay Shirilla added nine kills while Lauren Crump had a match-high 29 assists. Kristin Waechter paced the Red Wolves defense with 10 digs.

In the first set, Indiana East had a two-point lead (9-7) before going on an 11-4 run to gain its biggest advantage (20-11). The Trojans aided the Red Wolves with three attack errors while IUE had five kills.

The Red Wolves wouldn't let up in set two as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead. They would lead by as many as 12 points (21-9) to win 25-14.  Shirilla had five kills during the set. Trevecca was held to a .000 hitting percentage in set two.

Indiana East would win set three by the same score and hold the Trojan offense down again limiting TNU to a -.086 hitting percentage. Trevecca enjoyed an early lead (11-8) however, the Red Wolves would go on a 17-3 run to close the match.

"We played better as a team and the result showed," coach Crowley said.Shelby Sorce led the Trojans with a team-high 10 kills while Kristen Johnson tallied nine kills and eight digs. 

Loren Bennett paced the defense with a team-high 13 digs while Caroline Gay led in assists with 13."We were in control most of the time and it felt better," Crowley said.


CEDARVILLE WOMEN'S TENNIS EARNS ANOTHER SHUTOUT

OWENSBORO, Ky. - (courtesy of @CUYellowJackets) The Lady Jackets made it three straight 9-0 finals on the young season with a win at Brescia. In doubles, #2 Lily Schuler and Melissa Stoltzfus had the tightest match with a 9-7 decision.

The other points came from #1 Brooke Johnson and Joy Dice, 8-2, as well as #3 Courtney Heydt and Emma Rahn, 8-0.

Schuler played in the #1 singles position and was a 6-2, 6-4 winner. Johnson needed to rally at #2 for a 6-7, 6-4, 12-10 victory.

Cedarville dropped only three games total in the remaining four slots. The order was Dice (6-0, 6-0), Stoltzfus (6-2, 6-0), Heydt (6-0, 6-0), and Maryssa Herbert (6-1, 6-0).


TREVECCA MEN'S SOCCER FALLS, WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYS TO A TIE

NASHVILLE – (courtesy of @TNUsports) The Trevecca men's soccer team dropped a 5-3 match to Moody Bible Institute Friday afternoon in Chicago. The women's team battled to a 0-0 double-overtime draw against St. Catharine Collegeat the TNU Soccer Complex.

The Trojans dominated the match statistically out-shooting the Patriots 29-8 and holding an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks, however, TNU couldn't get put a shot in the back of the net.

"It was great defensive performance.  I'm really happy how the backs have been playing the last three matches," Armstrong said. 

Russell, the Patriots' goalkeeper, recorded 14 saves for her team while Trojans' goalkeeper Bekah Headrick denied three shots.
