Ursuline Freshmen have strong debut

Harborcreek, Pa. – The Ursuline College golf team fired a 343 to tie for fifth place at the nine-team Evann Parker Memorial Tournament, hosted by Mercyhurst University at Downing Golf Course. The tournament was originally scheduled to be a two-day event but inclement weather on Saturday forced it to be a one-day, 18 hole tournament.

The Arrows tied with Clarion University. Wheeling Jesuit won the event with a 312 and the host Lakers finished second with a 325, one stroke better than Gannon University.

Seton Hill University was fourth with a 333 while Charleston (345), Washington and Jefferson (365) and Westminster College (382) rounded out the field.

Freshman Talia Trovato was the top finisher for Ursuline as she tied for 10th with an 82 on the par-72 course. Freshman Chasey Rotondo tied for 12th with an 83 and freshman Ashley Rideout tied for 17th with an 84.

Freshman Katie Hertel (94 / T-47th) and freshman Kaylee Ruiz (135 / 60th) rounded out the Arrow squad.

Ursuline will host its own invitational on Friday (Sept. 14) at Acacia Country Club.
