FRESHMAN MACIVER SCORED GAME-WINNER FOR URSULINE TO OPEN SEASON

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – (courtesy of @UrsulineArrows) After posting 11 shutouts a season ago, the Ursuline soccer team picked up right where they left off. The Arrows blanked host Shepherd and won the season opener for both teams by a 1-0 count, thanks to a goal in the 31st minute from freshman Taylor MacIver.

The rookie forward took a ball from senior forward Heather Beachy and beat Shepherd goalkeeper Elizabeth Wise to provide the only tally of the match.

Senior goalkeeper Rachael Smith made two saves - one in each half - to earn the victory. The Arrows limited the Rams to just six shots while Ursuline attempted 13 shots in the contest, two of which were on goal.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - (courtesy of @CUYellowJackets) Davis & Elkins netted the game's only goal in the 57th minute to beat Cedarville, 1-0, in the first women's soccer contest of the season for both sides.

The visiting Senators had better chances throughout the game, and finally broke through in the second half. It was the first-ever NCAA Division II contest for the Lady Jackets.

D&E outshot Cedarville 12-6 overall (4-2 in shots on goal). Alysia Bennett was credited with three saves in goal. This was the first women's soccer meeting between the two schools. CU made the trip to Elkins, W.Va. last fall for a late October match and it was surprisingly snowed out.

TREVECCA DROPS SEASON OPENER 1-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - (courtesy of @TNUsports) The Trevecca women's soccer team was handed a tough 1-0 loss by the hands of Mount Vernon Nazarene University at the TNU Soccer Complex as a part of the Nazarene Classic.

MVNU's Jackie Mourne scored the lone goal of the match in the 34th minute when she drilled a shot from 30 yards out in the top-center of the net.

The Trojans had a couple of good scoring opportunities in the first half, led by Ashley Bush, who had a look from the left wing in the 27th minute. However, Cougars goalkeeper Eleni Miller denied her, and then later Brooke Gann's shot in the 41st minute from the far right box could not find the back of the net either. Miller recorded four saves on the night, while Trevecca's Bekah Headrick collected two.

Trevecca out-shot Mount Vernon 12-11 while MVNU held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
