INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference is finalizing details on expansion efforts that began last week with invitations sent out to a select number of institutions, which will potentially increase the number of NCAA Division II active institutions beyond the five active institutions currently forecasted in our current membership for the 2013-14 academic year.
 
The G-MAC also received notification from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and Urbana University of their intent to align with a newly forming athletic conference following the 2012-13 academic year. 

The current membership in the NCAA Division II landscape is fluid and the G-MAC is pleased with the membership options that are present in this region. We are finalizing the details involved in potential partnerships with like-minded institutions and are encouraged by the institutions that have shown interest to present an athletic experience to their student-athletes that promotes, conducts and regulates competitive sport programs and affords an opportunity for successful academic and athletic personal development.
 
Our membership is committed to development as the 24^th active NCAA Division II athletic conference and is excited about the future of the league. The common vision will be embraced by all members and we look forward to sharing more about our future as details are finalized.
