Women Finish Third at TranSouth Championships

ATHENS, Ala. - Trevecca Nazarene University senior Ashley Scism, who had won two of the last three TSAC Championships, finished with the lowest cumulative score today at the conclusion of the final round of the 2012 TranSouth Women's Golf Championships.

Scism, who was the defending champion, finished with a two-day total of 157 (81-76) to finish one shot ahead of Cumberland's Katie Legge (158=85-83). However, due to Trevecca's impending move to NCAA Division II, the Trojans were ineligible for either the team title or individual medalist honors.

NAIA No. 25 Cumberland University captured the team title, finishing with a two-day total of 659 (340-319), 29 shots ahead of second place Bethel University (688=350-338). Trevecca finished third with a total of 694 (357-337) and Martin Methodist came in fourth at 734 (378-356).

The TranSouth Championships were played at the Canebrake Golf Club in Athens, Ala., a 5,807-yard course playing to a par of 72. There were four teams and a total of 26 golfers competing in this year's event.

Trevecca's Ashley Randolph tied for eighth place with a 174 (91-83), Sarah Jo Dixon finished 16th at 180 (93-87), Whitney Phillips tied for 20th at 189 (92-97), and Maddie Privott was 22nd with a total of 195 (104-91).

Cumberland's Allyson Agee finished third at 162 (83-79) and the Bulldogs' Kayla Smith was fourth at 168 (87-81). Bethel's Erica Yarbro rounded out the top five at 171 (84-87).
