POOLER, Georgia  - The 10th ranked UNC Pembroke women's golf team completed a wire-to-wire victory in capturing the 2012 Armstrong Pirate Women's Golf Invitational, winning by 10 strokes over No. 21 Central Oklahoma after Tuesday's final round at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga.

The Braves shot a second straight round of 318 to finish the tournament with a 636 total, holding off Central Oklahoma, who shot the best round of the tournament with a second-day 316 to finish with a 646 total. The host Pirates and Lander tied for third with 653 totals, while No. 23 Flagler rounded out the top five schools with a 655 total.

Individually, UNC Pembroke's Meghan Moore captured the individual title with a second-round 77 to finish with a nine-over-par 153 total, three strokes better than Armstrong sophomore Jenna Birch, who shot a two-over-par 74 for the tournament's best single round to finish with a 156 total. Dana Watkins of UNC Pembroke and Ashley Shinn of Lander each tied for third with 158 totals. First-round leader Kristen Sammarco of Armstrong had to withdraw from the second round due to an illness.

Birch paced the Pirates' finish with her runner-up finish, while junior Kelly Pearce carded a second-round 82 to finish tied for 21st individually with a 166 total. Senior Kim Knox carded an 81 on Tuesday to finish tied for 26th individually with a 167 total while senior Victoria Bennett shot an 89 to finish tied for 51st individually with a 179 total.

The Blue Knight women's golf team finished in 16th place overall.  Freshman Lindsey Phillips led UU with rounds of 91 and 92, finishing in a tie for 64th in a field of nearly 90 golfers.  Shelby Link and Amanda Rockhold were the only Blue Knights to improve on Day 2.  Link trimmed 5 strokes off her Monday total, while Rockhold cut 3 strokes off her first round of the Spring.  The Blue Knights return home and have 3 weeks off before their next tournament.
