CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville’s Kayla Jenerette is the 2011-12 OIC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year in voting completed by the Ohio Independent Championship coaches.
Jenerette, a 5-foot-5 sophomore guard from Greenville, S.C., is the top choice on the five-player All-OIC First Team. She averages 16.4 points and 3.1 assists per game for the Lady Jackets.
Jenerette has guided Cedarville to 11 consecutive victories and a 22-7 overall record heading into the NCCAA National Tournament. The Jackets claimed the OIC title and the NCCAA Midwest Region banner.
Deborah Gordon, a 5-11 freshman forward from Fort Lauderdale, Fla, was named to the All-OIC Second Team. She averages 10.7 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game.
Gordon also earned a spot on the five-player All-OIC Freshmen Team. She was joined on the unit by Raegan Ryan, a 5-5 guard from Canisteo, N.Y.

The 2011-12 Ohio Independent Championships are post-season playoffs involving seven institutions in select sports with competition completed before the NCAA Division II regional and national tournaments.
Participating schools include Division II members Central State University and Urbana University as well as five schools, who are currently in the Division II membership process - Cedarville University, Malone University, Notre Dame College, Ursuline College (women’s only), and Walsh University.
