PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - Ursuline College golf, which played host for the Ohio Independent Championship (OIC) Tournament, finished fourth with a two-day team score of 820 (406-414). Walsh University claimed first place, with Malone and Urbana finishing second and third respectively. The Arrows finished ahead of rival Notre Dame College.
Leading the way for Ursuline was Mikayla Young, who shot the tournament's sixth best score on day one (91), and ended up finishing 11th overall (26 players). Kodi Hall finished 17th for the Arrows, while the Arrows third and fourth golfers, Nicole Lee and Chrissy Schaefer tied for 21st place.
Day one was difficult for the entire field as the golfers had to deal with winds that averaged 25 miles per hour, and gusted as high as 40 miles per hour. However, the difference from day one to day two was mixed. Two teams improved, two teams played worse, and one team shot only one stroke better.
The Arrows fifth starter, Leesha DeFelice in only her second golf tournament ever cut eight strokes from day one to day two, and over 15 from her first tournament at Urbana.
Ursuline will close out its 2011-12 season with a one-on-one match against Notre Dame on Wednesday, April 25 at Airport Greens.
