TIFFIN, Ohio - Urbana University sophomore Tyler Wason (Mississauga, Canada) earned another post-season accolade this afternoon. The first-year forward was named to the Independents' Collegiate Athletic Association's (ICAA) First Team. Wason was amongst the D-II independent leaders for goals, assists and points. He finished with a team-high 11 goals, 6 assists and 28 points in 18 starts. He also led Urbana in shots (64), shots on goal (31) and game-winning goals (4).
The ICAA is composed of NCAA Division II schools that are currently not in a conference. Men's soccer members are Chowan, Lindenwood, Mary, Notre Dame College, Oakland City, Palm Beach Atlantic, Truman State, Urbana and Washington Adventist. Notre Dame College cleaned up in the 2011 All-ICAA Men's Soccer awards. The Falcons won all four individual awards and had eight All-ICAA selections with six on the first team. Coach of the Year went to Mac McBride.
The Falcons went 19-0 on the season and won the ICAA, Ohio Independent and ECAC championships. McBride is 160-52-15 in 11 years at NDC. Player of the Year was Erik Beattie. The midfielder scored 11 goals in 15 games and tallied six game-winning goals on the season. Beattie added four assists for a total of 26 points.
Goalkeeper of the Year was Jan Skorupinski. Sharing starting duties, he was 9-0 with 25 saves, posted six shutouts, surrendered just five goals and had a 0.57 G.A.A. over 788 minutes and 18 seconds of action. Freshman of the Year was Martin Lange. The forward had 12 goals with five assists for 29 points. Lange also had four game-winning goals. The remainder of the 2011 All-ICAA teams are below:
