OWENSBORO, Kentucky - Kentucky Wesleyan College moved up three spots in Division II basketball men's attendance from the 2011 season to finish fifth in average attendance for 2012 with 2,619 per game as released by the NCAA.
First was Northern State (SD) with 3,382 per contest followed by Midwestern State (Texas) 3,094, Dixie State (Utah) 2,757, Augustana (SD) 2,712 and KWC.
The Panthers total home attendance was third overall with 47,145 in 18 games behind leader Midwestern State with 52,604 in 17 contests.
KWC averaged an eighth-best 2,329 last season.
The Great Lakes Valley Conference, which KWC is a member, finished sixth for Division II conferences with an average of 1,083 per game. The top conference was the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association with 1,635.
The national average for a Division II game (278 members) in 2012 was 750. The NCAA began reporting basketball attendance figures in 1977.
