CEDARVILLE, Ohio (courtesy of @CUYellowJackets) - Yellow Jacket defender Steve Ellis, who was named G-MAC Defensive Player of the Year, is the 2012 NCCAA Midwest Region Men’s Soccer Player of the Year in voting conducted by the region coaches.
Ellis, a senior from Irwin, Pa., earned the top honor on the 14-member squad. He was a 2011 choice and an NCCAA All-American.
Also making the NCCAA region team is Timmy Waller. The senior forward from Ifrane, North Africa, achieved a spot in the elite group for the first time in his career.
Ellis also was chosen for the 2012 Daktronics NCAA Division II Midwest Region Second Team. He was one of 26 players voted by the region’s sports information directors.
