INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has announced that Danny Goins of Urbana University has been named this weeks Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.

Goins led the Blue Knights to a perfect 2-0 week last week, knocking off Ashland University, 71-68, and Mercyhurst College, 71-63. In the two contests, Goins averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals on 62% shooting from the field (13 for 21) and 90% shooting from the charity stripe (9 for 10). His five assists in the win over Ashland were a career-high, while his 21 points in the win over Mercyhurst was a season-high.
Against Ashland, Goins scored Urbana's final four points on tough lay-ups in the lane in a slim 3-point victory. Goins has scored in double figures in all six of Urbana's contests this season. He is shooting 59% from the field and 50% from behind the arc (7 for 14), which leads his team and is third in the conference. He is also shooting 83.3% from the free throw line, which is second in the conference.
He ranks fourth in scoring in the G-MAC, with 15.7 points per game - just behind teammate Armond Battle, who ranks third. He also ranks third in assists per game with just over three a game.
