URBANA, Ohio - (@UUsports) For the third time in less than a week, a Great Midwest Athletic Conference member has claimed an overtime victory in soccer. Last week, Cedarville Men's and Women's teams each put in a dramatic overtime winner, while Trevecca Nazarene's women also received a winner in regulation of a 1-0 victory.

Last night, It took Urbana overtime to decide a hotly contested matchup of in-region rivals fighting for a NCAA Division II playoff berth. It was UU's fifth game this season, in 12 games, to go into overtime.

With 49 seconds left in the first OT, Tyler Wason picked the perfect time to score his team-leading 8th goal of the season. Wason's golden goal sent the Blue Knights home happy after a 1-0 win over the visiting Timberwolves from Northwood University.

The win was an important one as both teams entered Monday's contest with winning records in the region. Urbana's win helped the Blue Knights stop a two-game losing streak, both to ranked opponents.

Urbana also improves their resume with another key regional victory, moving to 7-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in overtime. Northwood falls to 5-4-1 after an impressive 3-0-1 start.

Urbana defender Joe Carter helped the Blue Knights preserve a 0-0 tie at the break.  His save on a Northwood corner kick kept the game scoreless heading into the half.

In the second half, Urbana outshot the Timberwolves 10-6, but neither team could find the back of the net.  Aaron Burt's attempt at the second half buzzer was stopped by Northwood keeper David Perez, sending the game into overtime.

With under a minute remaining in the extra frame, defender Ed Willoughby sent a high pass ahead to Wason.  Wason halted his run until the perfect moment to avoid an offsides call.  When he collected Willoughby's pass, he had just the keeper to beat, which he did in the top corner for the game-winner.
