Timmy Waller delivered a free kick near the left corner to the far post. King split the defense to chip the ball off the crossbar before heading it into the net.
The Yellow Jackets, 9-1-1 overall and ranked #10 in the Great Lakes Region, got off to a rapid start. Zachary Harris scored in the 4th minute into an open net following a nice pass from the right side by Connor Scott
.
It was only appropriate for King to get the winner. He was part of the pre-game festivities that honored Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Jones, parents of the late Dave Jones.
Shepherd, 3-6-1, leveled the match in the 51st minute and then had the home team on its heels the remainder of the half.
Both teams placed five shots on goal, but CU had more shots overall, 15-9. Ethan Dewhurst
tallied three saves and the Jacket defense was credited with another save.
