URBANA, Ohio (courtesy of @UUsports) - The Urbana University men's soccer team made both of its shots on goal on Tuesday night at home against Cedarville University.  The Blue Knights capitalized on both opportunities to claim a 2-0 win and outright G-MAC regular season championship.  The regular season conference title is the first in the program's 14-year history.

After a scoreless first half, Cedarville made the first mistake. A hand ball in its own box awarded Urbana a penalty kick in the 52nd minute. Urbana's leading scorer Tyler Wason didn't miss, blasting his ninth goal of the season by the Yellow Jackets' keeper.

Later in the half with Cedarville threatening to tie the game, the Blue Knights mounted a successful counter-attack. Mark Whittle corralled a loose ball in Yellow Jacket territory, and in an instant, he turned and fired a shot into the back of the net to put the home team on top 2-0.

The Blue Knight defense, led by keeper Darragh McGinley and his eight saves, held a feisty Yellow Jacket squad at bay down the stretch.  Cedarville managed eight shots on goal to Urbana's two, but the Blue Knights made their opportunities count.  McGinley picked up his fifth solo shutout of the season.

The Blue Knights finished a perfect 3-0-0 in conference play this season. Overall, Urbana now sits at 8-6-1.  Their eight victories already top last year's total.  Cedarville, meanwhile, suffered just their second defeat of the season.  The Yellow Jackets fall to 13-2-1 overall and 1-1-0 in G-MAC play.
