LIBERTY, Ind. – (courtesy of @UrsulineArrows) Behind the top three individual finishers, the Ursuline College golf team took the team title by 21 strokes at the seven-team Waterfront Classic, hosted by Indiana University-East at Harbor Links in Liberty, Ind.
The Arrows won the event with a well earned 354 while Great Midwest Athletic Conference rival Urbana University took second with a 375. Thursday’s team title marked the second of the season for head coach Jen Irwin’s group. The Arrows also captured first place at the Saint Vincent College Lady Bearcat Invitational on Sep. 17.
Freshman Ashley Rideout shot an 85 (43-42) to win the tournament, one stroke ahead of classmate and runner-up Eadaoin Cronin (40-46). Freshman Chasey Rotondo (43-45) was third with a round of 88 (43-45). The course which played fast and extermely narrow had its trouble areas, causing scores to inflate higher than the teams season averages.
The Arrows won in despite of shooting its second highest score of the season, second to only to its rain soaked home tournament in early September.
Rookie Katie Hertel was the other Arrow to score as she turned in a 95 (46-49) to place ninth in the field of 35 student-athletes while freshman Talia Trovato tied for 11th with a 97 (149-48).
The University of Northwestern Ohio was third with a 383 while Ohio Northern University was fourth with a 404. The host Red Wolves took fifth with a final score of 453, 17 strokes better than Thomas More College. Columbus State College did not finish.
Thursday’s tournament concluded the fall season for the Arrows.
